oil change on a car

If your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram is ready for oil service, you might ask, “How long does an oil change take?” The answer is not long at all! Most oil changes at O'Hara Motors will take less than an hour, meaning you can likely schedule one during your lunch break and get in and out quickly. For a better idea of wait times, we suggest contacting us to get an idea of which days and times of day our service center is typically less busy. How Long Should an Oil Change Take If I Do It Myself?

If you’re performing an oil change at home by yourself, the amount of time it’ll take can vary. You’ll want to budget out at least an hour, but it can definitely take more if you’re less familiar with the process. Changing your oil yourself also means you’ll need new oil, a new oil filter, a new oil filter gasket, a rubber mallet, the right wrenches, a jack, and wheel blocks on hand.

More often than not, it will save you time if you bring your car to our Falmouth service center and let us handle the oil change for you. You can even easily schedule your oil change service online.

More Helpful Oil Change Information

If it’s time to get an oil change, be sure to keep the following points in mind:

  • It used to be the norm to get your oil changed in Falmouth every 3,000 miles. However, these days, you’ll want to get an oil change every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. Certain models can even go 10,000 miles between oil changes. Check your owner’s manual for the most accurate maintenance guidelines for your particular make and model.
  • Our service specials page frequently has oil change coupons and other discount services listed, so make sure to check back often.
  • You’ll want to check your owner’s manual to see if it needs synthetic or conventional oil. Your owner’s manual will have that information. Synthetic oil typically costs more, but it won’t affect how long your oil change takes.
