RAM 1500 Fuel Economy Overview

The 2021 RAM 1500 gas mileage depends on the type of engine that you’re interested in. There are three engines to choose from that each get various mileage numbers based on the configuration:

3.0L EcoDiesel V6 Engine:

  • 23 mpg city / 33 mpg highway (2WD)
  • 21 mpg city / 29 mpg highway (4WD)

3.6L Pentastar® V6 Engine With eTorque:

  • 20 mpg city / 26 mpg highway (2WD)
  • 19 mpg city / 24 mpg highway (4WD)

5.7L HEMI® V8 Engine With eTorque:

  • 17 mpg city / 23 mpg highway (2WD)
  • 15 mpg city / 22 mpg highway (4WD)

Supercharged 6.2L HEMI® V8 Engine:

  • 10 mpg city / 14 mpg highway (4WD)

No matter which RAM 1500 trim level you choose, you’re sure to save on fuel costs thanks to this pickup’s impressive gas mileage. The 1500 enjoys a best-in-class 4×4 driving range of 624 miles, which can strongly lower costs if you’re interested in a full commercial fleet!

What is eTorque?

The new eTorque system is essential to the RAM 1500 fuel economy. RAM models equipped with this system use a 48-volt belt-driven battery-powered motor instead of an alternator. This makes for a hybrid system that results in more torque, more payload, and a higher towing capability, along with a higher EPA-rated fuel economy!

RAM 1500 Efficiency Systems

Here are just a few of the unique features that boost the RAM 1500 fuel economy:

  • Transmission – A TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission will maximize your RAM 1500’s performance and efficiency.
  • Design – The 2021 RAM 1500 models feature an elevated hood and redesigned roof, both of which lower its drag coefficient.
  • Active Air Dam – Standard in the RAM 1500 Rebel and non-air suspension models, this class-exclusive air dam lowers once the truck reaches 30 miles per hour.
